relentless

incessant

unstoppable

turmoil and trauma

a world designed

to inflame our passion

and shame our fashion

where difference is beauty

and encouraged

until it's not

where freedom of speech

is encouraged

until it's not

if you are too much

you're bad

if you are too little

you're sad

if you are confident

you're inciting

if you are undecided

you're derided

"God loves a trier"

but humans

often throw them

on the funeral pyre.

Well this is the gospel truth! Everyone looking for a savior, then crucifying them for being too human.

  • And now they're spinning through mine.

Woah, I got chills when I read this: "God loves a trier" but humans often throw them on the funeral pyre." 😳 Very strong ending! Passionate, and powerful. Definitely captures the ache of the Human condition of the world today and our longing for redemption. I'm curious Paul, if you could write a poem on the subject of scents? It could be dark, like the smell of smoke, or beautiful, like the smell of lavender. A thing that evokes some type of response, so we can all imagine breathing it in and sharing the emotion as we follow along. I'd love to read it.

This is very deep, made me think about how important it is to speak your mind.

Well stated! My favorite part was: “where difference is beauty and encouraged until it's not” I believe that language is magic (big surprise a writer would say that, I know), but we live in a stagnant world where discussions and discourse are silenced, and no narrative we’re all fed is ever to be challenged. We scream for diversity, but not diversity of opinion. Heavens no. Just diversity of physical appearance. We’re supposed to conform in all other ways, but we need people who look like us, because representation matters. But not representation of our beliefs and principles. Shhh! Can’t talk about that. Just be quiet and comment on the weather. 😄 I hope you never stop writing what’s in your head, because it’s always a fresh perspective that makes me think deeper.

This is painfully relatable but you did so well putting it into words so accurately!

Aye, we cant win, can we. Its not a healthy environment for us to grow, because growing means mistakes.

If I was on a funeral pyre right now, I'd be pissed, lol
