Spiral Staircase

No. 7 In The 50-day Senryū (川柳 ) Challenge

By Mike Singleton 💜 Mikeydred Published about a month ago • Updated about a month ago • 1 min read

Introduction

When I was at sixth form, I had a summer job as a carpenter and one of my jobs was putting in a cast-iron spiral staircase in a barn we were converting into a house.

A girl I knew, Christine Fletcher, had some great albums that were not pop, and one was "Spiral Staircase" by Ralph McTell, which has an amazing cover, and the title track is probably my favourite song of his.

This was an amazing picture by his granddaughter, which inspired a poem from me.
