Cicadas chorus,

Shuffling their wings quickly.

Prepare for battle,

For the heat is quite a feat!

Hoping summer time abates.

- - -

Magnolia sets,

While the birds ever fret some.

Twitter pated hearts,

Deep in the South where love serves,

On the porch and kitchen sweet.

- - -

Melodies rise high.

Screeching children laugh and play.

Harmonies blend nigh.

Father smiles and laughs kindly

Mother hums and sings calmly.

- - -

Watermelon seeds,

go flying in the high weeds,

while the hamburgers,

sizzle greatly on the grill.

Oh, what yummy summer thrill!

- - -

Bellies all full now.

Cracking out the banjo tunes,

and harmonica.

Bring the fiddle too - what fun!

As the day is nearly done.
