Sorrows

You Can't Drown

The taste of blood in my mouth

Welcome like an old friend

Anything to release this

This pain

A noose

It wraps around my lungs until I gasp for breath

One, Two

Five, Seven

I can't hold my breath for long

Eleven, Fifteen

I can't think straight

There's blood in my mouth and a noose in my chest

They're welcome, and I hate it

I don't want them, and I hate it

Finally, it's released

Too early, it's released

Oxygen rushes into my lungs

And it hurts almost just as much as losing it

I come back up and catch my breath

Everyone is staring

I'm gasping, I'm clawing, I'm bleeding

But you can't literally drown in your sorrows

I'm metaphorically drowning, and they're watching

I'm drowning, and they can't help me

I am drowning

And I can't do anything to release the pain
