An unlikely chance meeting in my class.

I met you in the dead of summer’s heat,

Hoping the summer days would never pass.

Your eyes penetrated my soul so deep.

Your smile inspired me to finally start—

Despite the pain and loneliness I’d lived—

To allow myself to unlock my heart

And to you, slowly, my love I did give.

Now eight years later here we are, I’m sure

We’ve been through more than any couple should.

If our love can survive what we’ve endured,

Our love is solid and it feels so good.

You were my summer love back in the day,

And my forever love you’ll always stay.
