Sonnet #3

For E. Stiller

Upon these rocks of time I sat; you stirred

With love. First words you spoke, sweet sounds unheard.

Warm breezes played with hair as our eyes gazed

Into eternal sunshine: lovers' ways.

I closed my eyes as waves crashed, and salt sprayed.

Existence poured into a single space.

In quiet depth your hand touched mine, sparked life.

Fingers entwined, foreshadowed day and night.

But Time would take us with Her when you'd say,

"Ya lyublyu vas," words etched in time.

I asked, what had you said to me that day?

And in eternal timeless, so Divine,

You told me all I'd ever want to hear;

That one "I love you" still lasts all these years.
