Somewhere between the pages of a fairytale

A poem about abandonment

I am lost, with no reason to seek

Inside the lifeless forest I keep questioning

My own existence, my own beliefs

When will the prince come and cut down those trees?

The trees that have been holding me prisoner in ages past

The same trees that once whispered comforting lullabies

I close my eyes and hear their lies,

Oh, how I longed for their murmured sighs.

Now I know, they are nothing but deceivers,

Standing tall in their grass enclosures,

Waiting forevermore for their next victim.

I am tired of waiting for the prince,

Whose dark bark hair I once caught a glimpse of, and then nothing ever since.

He is not roaming, he does not exist,

He will never show up on his Clydesdale,

And once again I am left alone,

Somewhere between the pages of a fairytale.
