The Moment Weeps

The automatic food bowl, feeds a dog I can’t forget

Calls her name and I just weep, I haven’t moved on yet

It’s a simple thing to alter, but I haven’t just because

It’s a memory I can’t let go, a raw and biting loss

Restless, listening to the quiet

4 am calls out to me

Though my body feels the tired

In the light of the tv

I toss and turn, scroll on my phone

Trying to find some peace

Fighting the fear of being alone

Some days it gets to me

I wipe my eyes, and settle in

My pillow brings a soft reprieve

I’ll get up soon and start again

But for now, I’ll try to sleep

Mazy Mae ❤️
