I'm happy, I say

in the glow of my TV

contented to play

the same old version of me

ignoring the sadness

that sometimes runs down my cheeks

watering down the madness

exploding out in the streets

*

I'm happy, I shout

as I sit all alone

drowning in drought

watching tictoc on my phone

portraying that someone

I told you I was

manipulating emotions

pretending for fun

entertaining the gods

that make the world go round

maintaining facades

never showing a frown

**

I'm happy, and you bought it

because you're happy too

we all sell the same shit

and it sticks to us like glue

There is no need to fight it

it's just what we do

pop a red or a green to get through it

whenever you're feeling blue

Because seeing is believing

and believe me, it's true

the only one needing deceiving

in this madness, is you!
