I woke up this morning.
...
I wanted to stay in bed but I couldn't,
I have Responsibilities.
I wanted to go watch tv but I wouldn't,
I have Responsibilities.
I want to go have fun but I shouldn't,
I have Responsibilities.
I have to go to work, I have to pay bills and others essentials.
I have to pay for my shirts, my food, my car, and my dental.
I have rent to pay.
I have debt to pay to ensure I don't drown
I have to keep moving, I can't turn around.
Still...
There's the eeriest feeling that somethings behind me,
A sinister breath down the back of my neck.
DON'T LOOK BACK, it will only remind me,
Eyes straight ahead, watch every step.
My bones ache, my muscles stiffen,
My mind drifts through a river of stress.
There's something behind me but it doesn't matter,
It gets farther away with every beat in my chest.
It follows me.
But it won't follow close,
It feels like a friend more than an enemy.
There's something behind me and everybody knows, but nobody cares,
it's only a memory.
It feels like more.
Like there's a rope pulling me back.
Like there's something behind me and it won't leave me slack.
It's so far away but it feels so close.
I miss it.
It feels like a ghost.
The ghost of my past.
There's something behind me and it used to be fast but now it's fading.
Its falling behind, I can't feel its presence, I want to rewind.
I CANT LOOK BACK.
I NEED TO SEE IT.
I CAN'T LOOK BACK.
I'm scared that it's gone.
I CAN'T LOOK BACK.
I know it's behind me.
I CAN'T LOOK BACK.
It's already lost.
