Some Hearts Lie

Not all hearts can be trusted in this life

Some Hearts Lie

Some hearts can promise you the sky,
Then leave you wondering how and why,
They speak of love, they speak so sweet,
Then disappear when hearts must meet.

Some people know exactly how,
To make you trust them anyhow,
They wear a smile, they play the part,
While hiding secrets in their heart.

You give them everything you own,
And slowly find yourself alone,
You wonder what you did so wrong,
And why the silence lasted long.

But sometimes you were not to blame,
The truth was hidden in their game,
You only saw what they allowed,
Behind the laughter and the crowd.

A lie can wear a pretty face,
And still destroy a sacred place,
For beauty isn’t always proof,
And sweet words don’t reveal the truth.

I’ve learned to listen to my heart,
To recognise when things aren’t right,
For feelings whisper what they know,
Before the truth begins to show.

Trust isn’t something cheaply given,
It’s earned through actions, not just written,
A promise means much more to me,
When someone’s actions let me see.

I won’t regret the love I gave,
For loving doesn’t make you weak,
The weakness lies in those who choose,
To take a heart and then abuse.

So let the liars walk away,
I don’t need them here today,
I’ve got no room for borrowed pain,
Or someone else’s selfish game.

My heart may carry scars from then,
But I can love and trust again,
For one bad chapter doesn’t mean,
The ending can’t be something clean.
