Pretty in a rotten world

SMUDGES

There is a pile of dirt..

Far from here..

Well, more a pile of trash..but,

Zoom in close..

Look into this mound,

Of brown,

In the smudges a bit of color..

Rises one single flower..

Beauty in a lonely hour.

There is a city..

One of many..

Walls grown round us.

Zoom in closer.

Look into the bricolage of dingy man-makings,

Shapings..

In the smudges,

Between colorless walls,

Rises a full orange moon...

Beauty in concrete swoon.

There is a child,

Near to you, near to me..

Not quite right.

Zoom in closer,

Looking into the eyes of brown, blue, green..

In the smudges that surround them..

Rises a smile,

Beauty with no guile.

There are smudges in this world darkly..

Smudges with no compare..

The beauty sweet, now rare.

A smidgeon of vision starkly

Face behind a wedding veil..

Truth behind the smudges

Gives rise to the beauty of a different scale.

Peace
