Smog

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Does my heart cost my mind?

Is there a world where I can have both speak the same language,

where I can feel my heartbeat and my mind not wonder if this is my end,

my mind not constantly racing with the eyes following behind,

clearing everything away and I can exhale it all?

The smog in my system is suffocating me and I have no filter,

nothing to keep it blocked out,

all I can do is distract myself from the feeling of the world crumbling

but it's only within me.

I hold my breath until I can't anymore

and...

the smog is me.
