Small Town Life

A Sonnet

Walking I can see the pink flowers be

Down main street in the cool summer's breeze

Beauty surrounds them for you and for me

The soft cool breeze flows through the nearby leaves

Months have gone by but oh how things have changed

Once a thriving town is now no longer

Times change faster when the groundwork is laid

WiFi, internet, and so much further

Why do we let this happen in our towns

They used to be summer's free getaway

Shops from childhood are now left in mounds

Summer's stay-cation put on layaway

How I wish time could stand still years ago

Enjoying the simple small town life glow
