Small Miracles
Every day
In the beauty of a butterfly’s wings
Nature’s canvas painted in intricate detail
With the colours of a rainbow
That hangs on the horizon after a violent storm
Of thundering booms and a flashing light show
Waltzing in the northern sky
Gliding hues of blue and green
Like waves on a lake
Where swans perform a delicate ballet
A bonding ritual of loyalty and love

Like a mother swaddling her new born child
Promises love and protection
Fierce as a mama bear coddling her young
Shielding them from the world
While teaching them to thrive in that same space
Where cruelty prospers and great moments seem rare
But small miracles happen every day
In the simplest things
Like a smiling dog
Or a tiny butterfly flapping its wings.
