Ode to the Ordinary

Second Place in Ode to Ordinary Challenge

Glory be

To those who wove

The fabric of these sheets

Of countless thread and of exotic origin

Whose very comfort has been transferred

Unto me

.

Blessed be the Gods

Who learned to sew

Memories unto the fine plush foam

On which I lay

Swayed not by slight of movement

At end of day

.

These gifts

Of which I harbor

No less short of miracles

Deftly usher me to slumber

The depths of which:

Unequivocal

surreal poetry

Wow, definitely see why this should be celebrated! Congratulations! And beautiful job honoring the hands and work that go into the creation of a comfort so many of us take for granted. I love your wording and the quiet peace woven into it - as if readers get to be the bed that you lay this prayer down on.

Beautifully articulated! I love the subtle references to religious language that makes this piece feel like worship and praise of something we often take for granted - a soft place to lay our heads!

Congratulations. Nicely observed and beautifully written. We all know the comfort of our own bed but can't convey it as well. (I'm curious, exactly what thread count are we talkin' here?)
