I have never walked her emerald hills

nor strolled her cobblestone streets

I've yet to kiss her ancient stones

or visit where her banshees weep.

I've never stood upon her cliffs

and watch the sea befriend the sky.

I haven't perched on an old pub stool

and sang along with songs of times gone bye.

But there is a longing within my heart

with which I was born, an aching hole.

what a wonder it is

to reminisce, and miss,

a places not known yet part of your soul

Slainte (pronounced "slawn-cha" is cheers in Gaelic)

As an American with Irish and Viking roots I have always felt a deep connection to the people of Ireland and Irish traditions. We celebrate St. Paddy's day every year with a blend of traditional and non-traditional food and music. I hope to visit one day and explore this emotional connection with the physical experience of being there. Until then - Slainte! And may you have a blessed and wonderful St. Paddy's day with you and yours.
