Sir Tristan the Knight

Eyes like onyx, black sight

Intense and enigmatic

Caused ladies to become erratic

His face charmed the snake

Who would soon awake

The well grounded foundation

Of Tristan's arranged constellation

By John Benitez on Unsplash

Tristan became the night

He became full of smite

His eyes became pure dark

And his dreams became stark

He was all alone

He dreamt in the same tone

Colors evaded

His vision faded...

His silhouette cowered

As a woman was deflowered

Anguished with pain

Tristan rushed in and slain

She became shame

Tristan called out her name

Isolde, Isolde!

My lady I hold,

She knelt down with tears

He removed all her fears

Together they lay

Beneath the clear Milky Way

The beasts who had sinned

Laid among the jinns

Tristan's power grew,

He changed when he knew

His soul had sought at length

A glimpse of Isolde's strength

What the pair had lived

Was a story that would give

A meaning to true love

Guided by the stars above

His lady was his heroine

Isolde's hero was Tristan

The mirror of each face

Was the same in a different space

Reflections do not lie

If the truth is in the eye

Believe in beauty and grace

And you will be that perfect face

Tristan's innocence seemed to vanish

When the serpent fed whilst famished

His soul was bitten raw

But Isolde symbolized the law

No matter what has been scripted

Burdens can always be lifted

Through an intimacy of lovers

The answers became uncovered

When the demons began to provoke,

Tristan's soul was triggered and awoke

Isolde's body was broken

But her spirit had finally spoken

She was being used as a vessel

To help Tristan with his wrestle

Although her body did suffer

Her spirit was the buffer

She is forever protected from harm

Whilst Tristan is her charm

He is her amulet, her rune

Her tarot and her moon

He provides the final vision

For sweet Isolde's mission

Their mighty bond is permanent

Written in the timeless firmament

The promise between them steady

Their story understood when ready
