Silent Whispers

Old Flame Reignited

By Farah Khaled Published 2 years ago • 2 min read

In a fresh summer met two 6th graders by the sea

Felt the sweet summer breeze

The boy said some words that he didn’t mean

Just an innocent little tease

The strong sun rays brightened up their dreams

They ran freely as fast as wind playing hide and seek

Suddenly the whole world was at their feet

And the little dream was at its peak

They were building sandcastles that water washed away

But every joy was marked in their hearts and was here to stay

There came the day, the summer was over like a favorite song

Feels like heaven but ends before it’s too long

The boy and girl were petrified at the thought of them moving to different towns

They were thrown away from each other

Got to live among undesired new crowds

But they swore to each other they would remember this for as long as they live

They had much more love that they were willing to give

They grew up to a new stage of life

Teenagers: Years passed another five

Fate brought them back together once more

She’s the girl next door

They met again by chance in a nearby bookstore

With no recognition of the sweet little past

Faces forgotten but feelings to last

They fell in love all over again

Without knowing, reliving the memory

The old days were not in vain

They hung out together for a little while

She said here’s to you, why I love you

I love the silent whispers of your heart that keep me from talking

I love your strong edges that keep me from falling

I love how when we’re about to start a fight, you let it go and come to me crawling

And all the words of other girls seem to me provoking

” They are dating though they barely know each other”

We are happy, they can’t stop stalking

But when they see his smile shines and we come across them walking

They wish to have this, just a little of this

A life-long love is what everyone misses

The boy came up one day to his girl and said

I found this note that says” I’ll always love you” attached to a picture in an old box underneath my bed

I should have doubted it was you, but I knew it by heart

It was right from the start

When we were by the sea, and we had our first” hello”

The girl said yes, that was when we were too young in love, but I knew I loved you so

I was right on the edge and ready for falling

With the silent whispers of your heart that kept me from talking.
