On Holy Saturday, a solemn day,
The world seems to hold its breath in sway,
For Christ is in the tomb, laid to rest,
And we are left to mourn, feeling distressed.
*
The air is heavy with a sense of loss,
As we remember his sacrifice on the cross,
The pain and suffering he endured for our sake,
And the love that he showed, that will never break.
*
But in the midst of our grief and despair,
We hold on to the hope that we share,
For we know that on the third day,
Christ will rise again, in a glorious display.
*
So we wait, in quiet reflection and prayer,
Trusting in the promise that we declare,
That death has been defeated, and sin overcome,
And that in Christ, we have a new life begun.
*
And as we wait, we feel a sense of awe,
At the power of the love that we saw,
For it was a love that was willing to die,
To save us from darkness, and lift us up high.
*
So on this Holy Saturday, we mourn and we weep,
But we also hold on to the promise we keep,
That death has no power over us anymore,
For in Christ, we have a hope that will endure.
