Silent Tears

A Tribute to Slavery Victims

Their stories etched in history's page,

The victims of a cruel and barbaric age.

Torn from their homes, their families, and lands,

Captured and sold, treated as mere hands.

Forced to labor in fields and mines,

Whipped and beaten, suffering in lines.

No freedom or rights, no hope for escape,

Living in fear, a lifetime of rape.

Their spirits crushed, their dignity gone,

Stripped of all that they had known.

Yet, they fought on, and never gave in,

Their resilience and strength, an inspiration to kin.

Generations have passed, but their pain remains,

Memories of their suffering, haunting like chains.

We must remember their lives and their strife,

Honor their courage, and pay respect to their life.

Their legacy endures, a testament to their might,

And their struggle, a beacon for justice and right.

We must keep their memory alive,

And work towards a world where all thrive.

Let us honor their memory, with love and with light,

And vow to never forget their fight.

May their spirits rest in peace,

And may their struggle never cease.

***********

May we never forget the atrocities of the past and continue to work towards a better future for all. Thank you for taking the time to remember the victims of slavery.

This is a powerful and poignant poem that vividly captures the horrors and injustices of the slave trade. The language is emotive and evocative, painting a vivid picture of the suffering endured by those who were forcibly taken from their homes and subjected to a life of captivity and brutality. The poem also highlights the resilience and strength of the victims of slavery, who despite facing unimaginable hardships, never gave up and continued to fight for their freedom. The message of the poem is clear and important, reminding us of the importance of remembering the victims of slavery and honoring their memory. The call to work towards a world where all can thrive is a powerful and timely reminder of the work that still needs to be done to ensure that the legacy of slavery is never forgotten. Overall, this is a moving and thought-provoking piece of writing that effectively captures the pain and suffering of those who were victims of the slave trade, while also inspiring hope for a better future. Thank you for sharing this powerful poem.

A side note.. I would usually try to send something like this via direct message but I don't think vocal has that so feel free to delete this comment if you want ๐Ÿ˜….. I just think you might want to reword the last line. I know you mean that the memory of their struggle to not disappear, but when I first read it, I kind of understood it differently.

Great poem. Beautiful tribute to this horrific practice (people think slaves only existed in America, but they were everywhere throughout history - ancient Rome for example)... Once again, beautiful poem
