Signs from your Spirit

My Dad Reaching Out

I went for a walk the day you died

Just a few weeks ago, the Universe warned me

A storm had knocked down a huge tree

One that I saw all the time

I was sad that all that was left of it were it's roots

Spirit told me, "Nothing is immortal."

It was foreshadowing I guess

Because now you are gone

I asked for a sign from you Dad

A few minutes later I heard a loud cracking sound

A tree, or a large branch had fallen

I could not tell which

I heard, "A mighty tree does not fall quietly."

Then I went to your apartment, where Mom sat grieving

The couch where you sat still held crumbs from your snacks

The cushion dented in from your body, now gone

Mom said I could have your hoodie, the one you wore so often

When I put it on it feels like a hug from you

I took the mug I gave you

Which you drank coffee out of for decades

As a reminder of you

It felt as if you were still there

Mom saw you

I think you linger there for her

Stay awhile Dad

I don't want Mom to leave so soon
