Short dazes

A poem

‘short dazes’

sweat soaked sheets

rain battered streets

the heat is gone, can’t change it back

The summer burnt quick and my heart is matching

Matches and hot heat flashes

The summer is gone and it won’t come back soon

A venture into night, so lonely, I’m so lonely

The park was filled with lights for anyone looking

Similar souls dragging tired soles on cold pavement

Just for a moment I found solace in solitude

Wandering into bars and passing through seas of eyes

Eyes that see a taciturn man aimlessly wandering, aimlessly existing

A rolled joint in her breast pocket

She hands it to me

Smoke clings to the low ceiling, wafting through our hair

Black snakes are intoxicated and restless eyes settle for now

For now, the room is still and silent

Strangers stumble out the bar and sober lovers start the car

the daze is a short one
