Shells And Petals

Brokenness And Hope

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago • Updated 2 years ago • 1 min read

Shotgun shells and broken wings

Tattered holes and battered dreams

Bullet holes attached to strings

No more use in listening

*

Her eyes don’t leave you room for reason

Love her scars, she's done with hate

She’s lost herself deep in-the process

A fractured soul about to break

*

Faintly her souls song plays on repeat

Hiding amongst lost memories

Brokenness falls, petal stained ivory

A promise played with missing keys

*

She held to notes inside a love song

The rhythm, like her feelings, played

Believed the melody for so long

His lyrics masked the masquerade

*

She wants desperately to believe in magic

Though his actions dimmed her fire

No longer tries to be pragmatic

She fans the flame to her desire
