she was young.

didn’t have to worry about skin lines and rejection.

wore heels all day and didn’t even own a blister kit.

her sunglasses were classic, timeless.

she knew the woman who did her nails by name and where her kids were going to college.

she wasn’t known for being selfless or selfish, she was simply herself.

in her spare time, she enjoyed walking to the harbor and gazing at the boats docking and sailing off.

she wondered what adventures laid ahead for them, and morbidly, if they would ever make it back.

she liked the color green but only to look at, not wear.

after a horrid prom dress choice, she has sworn off it.

the last date she went on was with an ex-lawyer named Greg.

he now works in software but he wants everyone, including the waiter, to know he used to be a lawyer.

i don’t think it’s going to work out.
