She Was a Gold Digger
She took men for what she could get

She Was a Gold Digger
She was a gold digger, everyone knew,
She loved what money and diamonds could do,
She never loved a man for the heart he possessed,
Only the fortune he kept in his chest.
She wore pretty dresses and expensive shoes,
She never accepted a man who could lose,
Her kisses were promises wrapped up in lies,
While counting his money with greed in her eyes.
She married a gentleman wealthy and old,
His fingers were trembling, his heart made of gold,
He gave her his mansion, his beautiful name,
Not knowing his marriage was nothing but a game.
She slept in silk sheets while he slept alone,
She answered his kindness with a heart made of stone,
He waited each evening to hear her come home,
But she preferred parties and leaving him alone.
One morning he told her his fortune had gone,
The banks had collapsed and the debts carried on,
She packed all her dresses, her jewels and rings,
And left him behind with his worthless things.
She found herself another with money to spare,
A handsome young fellow with silver-grey hair,
He promised her diamonds, a yacht and a throne,
But strangely enough, he owned nothing alone.
He borrowed his watches, his cars and his clothes,
His mansion belonged to a woman called Rose,
His diamonds were glass and his fortune was fake,
She’d married a liar for goodness sake.
She screamed at the mirror, she cursed her own greed,
For money was something she desperately need,
Her beauty was fading, her lovers had flown,
And the heart she had sold was now hers alone.
She returned to the gentleman she’d left in despair,
But another sweet woman was living there,
His fortune was safe, he’d invented the lie,
To discover if love was the reason she’d fly.
She was a gold digger, but gold turned to dust,
She’d traded affection for riches and lust,
And died with her diamonds all scattered around,
For the love she had wanted could never be found.
