She's Beautiful, You Know

Magic

By Karen LaRuePublished 2 years ago 1 min read

She’s beautiful you know

The kind that everyone can clearly see

Something that goes beyond skin deep

And that brings out the hatred

The ones who attack

Who claim her beauty isn’t real because it fails to fit in

When they are somehow spending the entirety of their energy trying to destroy it

Because it’s dangerous to them

Not because she’s ugly,

She’s not

Her features cause maidens to swoon

Men to fall over and backwards

And those in between to turn their heads in awe

But this is also because her beauty means something

It means that she has stared death in the face and won

More than once

It means that her world crumbled, and she is still standing

It means that though seemingly everyone wants her to be a small little folded thing

She’s not

She is unfolded and taking up all of her beautiful, glorious, wondrous space in a cacophony of compassion

And that is something more than beautiful

It’s magic

And yes, you can see that magic in her eyes

You can just see her glowing from the inside of her skin

And it makes you feel

Safe to be you

At ease

Full of cause

Or

Uncomfortable

Out of control

Afraid of the other

Whatever it is you feel

You feel it strongly

So strongly it changes you in some way

But this is the mark of Greatness

That no one leaves their presence unchanged.

So, they dwell in this greatness

And bring the light into our world
