The day you went away

The day you went away

My heart shattered

My spirit broke

Everything crumbled,

I could not breathe

I could not see

I became a shadow of the person I once was

How could this be?

What happened?

Why?

All the unanswerable questions

I could not feel

I was numb to all

How could this be

How could you go

I do not know

Tell me someone

Please tell me why?

what do I do?

How do I survive?

I do not know?

But survive I must

My mind becomes an insatiable place

Questing

Seeking

Trying to adjust

Walking through my life as if I am alive

Dead inside

It is how to survive

I do not know why you went away

All I know is you are with me every day

I feel your presence in so many ways

Your scent

Your joy

I feel the love that should have been

Why did you go?

I cannot know

I cannot feel

I rationalise why

The meanings that need to be felt

Questing

Seeking

Looking for the unanswerable questions all the time

The seasons change and the years flow

You are with me

I always know

Time passes, but do shattered hearts heal

Yes

No

Others may forget you

For me it is always real

But now I see things from a different space.

I see what I could not see

I see what is meant to be

I still do not know why you went away

But now I see it had to be

So, I may grow and do what I must

To heal and become the person I trust

Now what feels like light years away

I feel you more and more each day

You are the light in my heart

The wind beneath my wings

You are the whispers on the breeze

The love I hold in my hands

You are everything I touch

Everything I feel

You are the reason I can relax and be real

One day in the future we will be together again

That will be the day a shattered heart fully mends

That is when we will be reunited again.

Til then I love you as only I can

As I write this, the tears flow for all that has been and all that could have been

This poem is not about any one event, but many things collectively as life ebbs and flows

It is about many things, people and the shared experiences of life.

It could be the passing of someone

A fur friend

The loss of someone who has left and moved away.

Whatever this touches in you, let it be real.

Let this wash over you.

Let it flow through you.

Let it heal!
