Shadow of my Lover
I fell in love with my lover’s shadow,
dark and silent, laced with sin.
It whispered secrets in the moonlight,
begged me closer, pulled me in.
Eyes like embers, lips like poison,
fingers tracing wicked paths.
It danced where light could never follow,
hid its hunger in the black.
I opened doors that should stay bolted,
called its name and let it through.
Now it lingers in my ribcage,
breathes inside me, sings me blue.
My lover sleeps—but not his shadow.
It watches, waits, and grins at me.
A kiss, a touch—I gave it everything,
now I will never be set free.
