Servant's Clothes

Dressed, Ready

By Rowan Finley Published 7 years ago 1 min read

We’re ready, dressed in servant’s clothes.

We’re ready, for we are the ones he chose.

Candles lit as we sit and watch and wait.

We need to be ready by door and by gate.

Day and hour unknown.

Spirits will not give up, even though they moan.

Ready we must be, even in third watch of night.

Stay awake we struggle and fight.

Expected much from us because of what’s been given.

Day by day, work, thus we’ve striven.

Our Master is taking a long time in coming.

In the meanwhile, others we are summoning.

We’re ready, dressed in servant’s clothes.
