Serendipity

as peace returns

eggshells and petals

fragile paths that we tread

pastels and metals

moments strung on a thread

poolside umbrellas

and soft white, twinkling lights

rose buds on a trellis

on a warm summer night

first loves and romance

music played way down low

jumping at the chance

to let those feelings show

chiffon and glitter

like stars that fall from the sky

making hearts jitter

likened to angels as they sigh

all leading to somewhere

maybe places we've been

or escaping in slumber

as a stranger in our skin

drifting into dreamlands

both awake and asleep

starlight dancing on hair strands

with promises meant to keep

replenished by sunlight

and the breezes that blow

holding memories so tight

swearing to never let go
