Selfish Love

'I love you for me'

Selfish love

I love you for me

But it's not for the fame

Nor for the fortune

But rather for my need

To fill my shattered heart

With something more whole

Than unbridled hate

This so selfish love

It's not for the coin

Nor for the crown

But rather for my longing

For a truly passionate embrace

An embrace that connects souls

And heals a hearts tattered remains

For my need to fill another's eyes

With love of true sincerity

Despite my thorny spine

To allow another to blossom with me

Despite our tattered souls

Oh yes, I love you for me

It is a selfish love
