Self -betrayal
You're not really shocked, are you?
---
Bitter words run in your mind;
a lectical chewing of citrus peels.
Angry phrases pop up
hitting their red overheated selves
on the borders of your head.
A fountain of disappointment.
..
In between:
pauses of sentimentality
with the tears of a child
that needs a maternal hug.
It's not fair.
You promised me.
..
Shortly after,
back to the inner tornado
that wants to rip your thorax out
and blow up the entire neighborhood.
You fucker!
..
A cyclical choreography
of a volcanic monologue.
A mixture of painful anger,
emptiness full of feelings,
and a suspicion that whispers…
..
Deep inside
you knew from the beginning
that this promise would evaporate,
and you chose to count on it.
It was more of a promise
you made to yourself;
not a promise he made to you.
You're not really shocked,
are you?
It is an unsurprising surprise.
So, he didn't really betray.
He acted according
to his own inner voice
and his present range of self-awareness.
You're the one who betrayed yourself.

If you swim in Instagram’s ocean, you’ll find me somewhere here, on a raft like the one Odysseus had.

You didn't betray yourself; he just proved once again that he was a mean asshole. I know what you mean, but it's only a device, a way to lessen the blow.
