A poem about the moon

Selenophile is a word, for someone obsessed with the moon.

The moon is trending,

Selenophiles are everywhere.

They are witches, scientists and hippies.

People all obsessed with the subtle perfection,

Of earth’s natural satellite.

The only source of light during a time of ultimate darkness.

Nature’s timekeeper.

A matriarch that whispers,

Whose heartbeat controls the ocean,

Bringing peace in waves,

The tides under her command.

Every night, with grace and poise

The moon holds up a mirror,

To reflect light from this universe’s center,

A ball of raging hot plasma.

Bold rays bounce with confidence and existential questions,

About our time in the black see of space,

Back to earth.

Some people blame the moon and her many phases

for making them a little crazier.

Maybe they find it easier to live,

When far away objects hold the reins on their lives.

But I would rather live knowing,

My life’s path was forged with the choices I made.
