See me, the person I AM,
Underneath the hurt, the tears,
It's still me,
I don't wear makeup to cover up who I am.
This is me.
My hair is turning white and I have earned every strand.
I have laugh lines that I am not going to hide.
I am not pretending to be someone that I am not.
I do not have the perfect body or the perfect face.
I have scars everywhere.
I have five tattoos, each in a different space.
They all tell a different story of something that took place.
I am not the person who I once was,
There is a new me in my place,
I will talk with ones I hold close.
Others, I won't Forget your Face.
