My secret is I love you more than

The next breath I take, more than

Anything I've ever found, more than

The next beat of my heart

~

I stay quiet, afraid to say how I feel

But my eyes give me away

Every time I stare too long

Every time I can’t look away

~

I've composed a thousand songs

And, penned a thousand poems

To tell you how my pulse races

How I can't catch my breath

~

If I were braver, if I came clean

Would you smile and laugh about

How long it took me to finally

Say I love you, or

~

Would you crash my world down

When you let me down easy

Would I wish I had kept quiet

When you said you were busy

~

Now, you're walking into the room

Wearing that same smile, that first

Made me fall, and I ask myself for

The hundredth time, is this my chance

love poems
