Yellow, Orange, Red

Dripping through the sky

Slowly cascading down

Turning the grey below into

Colorful pieces like a scattered

Chalk drawing from impressionist

Whose lines were left unblurred

My soft yellow sweater falling

To the floor with fumbling hands

A warm embrace the entwine of us

Sounds of children screaming

Some in delight and others in fear

A piece of white hanging

Denoting something from the beyond

Still lingers on these days and nights

We watched an orange sunset

Slowly descending into deep blue

It was the color of my heart for you

Streets filled with pumpkins

Goofy smiles, scary faces, and strange placements

They were everywhere

Now I see them and remember

Us smashing them

Squash on the patio

It was our squashed dreams

Our screams of delight

Ended up as terrifying fights

Our red letters days became

Angry eyes

Tonight is my night to

Destroy the season

By throwing away the ghost

Obliterating the overside fruit

And mourning the year I fell

For you like leaves

About the Creator

Lisa Pulliam

I love making fun of my emotions, feelings, and thoughts in short form writing such as songs and illustrations. I would like to write longer and more explorative pieces for others to read.
