Screaming Inside

There is a mouth within my silence,

Wide as night, and louder than breath,

It opens where no one can see me,

It echoes in chambers beneath my ribs,

Where words are not spoken, only torn,

And every thought arrives already wounded.

I smile as if nothing is breaking,

Yet something howls behind my teeth,

A storm pressing hard at the bone,

A rising that never finds release,

It claws at the edges of calm,

It begs to be heard, yet stays buried.

Inside, I am shouting in circles,

My voice folding in on itself,

Layer upon layer of unheard cries,

Like mirrors reflecting a deeper fall,

And each echo becomes another prison,

With no door, no end, no mercy.

There is a face within the scream,

Mine, but not as I show it,

Eyes closed against the pressure of truth,

Lips stretched in a silent collapse,

A portrait of everything I hide,

Drawn in shadows I cannot erase.

I have learned to carry the noise,

To walk as if nothing is wrong,

To let the world hear only quiet,

While chaos sharpens its edge within,

Because some screams are not for air,

They belong to the dark that shaped them.

And still, it grows,

This soundless roar beneath my skin,

A living thing that feeds on restraint,

That widens its mouth in the hollow,

Until one day, it may split me open,

And the silence will finally shatter.
