if I died tonight

I think I'd be alright

but, that's not the point

-

pain, for me, would cease

if my body, mind gave out

that, is not the point

-

if I took my life

at night, oblivious me

but others, would care

-

others feel the same

hold on, reach out, not give out

the point? You Matter

Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: Sorry, another dark and heavy one. Not entirely reflective of how I am feeling currently. Though, I've been there, not that bad right now. I know there are many others out there in that spot. Far from suggesting that it is easy to change your mind about those feelings and thoughts, I wrote this to merely raise the argument against those negative intrusive thoughts that can sometimes feel too much to bear. It helps me.

This is part of my long-running senryū series "scratches in my mind". I have yet to create a pillar post collating all the entries for the series together, but here is a link so you can check them out if you wish:

The poems from that series will be featured in my second poetry collection, along with my favourite/best longer stream-of-consciousness style and chunkier poems. The working title for that collection is "streams and scratches in my mind" and is being compiled so that there will be longer pieces to really sink into when you have the time and shorter, bite-size pieces to read when time is at a premium. Best of both worlds.

Obviously, this has more of a consistent theme than my debut poetry collection "The Accidental Poet: Poetry Collection", which you can pick up from Amazon in either the physical form or the digital. Plug over.
