Saving Every Penny To Get Away From Him
One day soon I will be free

Saving Every Penny To Get Away From Him
I hid the coins beneath the floor,
Counted every single score,
Tiny hopes inside a jar,
Dreaming roads that stretched afar.
His footsteps shook the narrow hall,
Sharp words crashing through the wall,
I learned silence far too young,
Holding tears upon my tongue.
The days grew heavy in that place,
Fear resting cold upon my face,
Yet somewhere deep my spirit knew,
One dawn would finally break through.
I skipped the coffee every week,
Bought worn shoes with thinning feet,
Folded notes inside a book,
Careful where he never looked.
Outside the trains still moved ahead,
Toward brighter lives beyond the dread,
I traced their paths through sleepless nights,
Holding tightly to the lights.
No prince arrived to rescue me,
No miracle set my spirit free,
Only stubborn strength remained,
Quiet courage through the pain.
Then one pale morning filled with rain,
I carried all I could contain,
A single bag, a shaking hand,
And dreams too long left unmanned.
The door closed softly far behind,
Leaving all his storms confined,
For every penny that I saved,
Built the road that freedom paved.
