One summer day...

I cannot know if you remember me,

for time has withered the shimmering sun,

which shines only in my waning memory,

living as a monument to lost fun.

I can never forget your gentle smile,

your laugh which enlivened the very air,

your hazel eyes full of promise and beguile,

your wavy locks of sun-kissed blonde so fair.

As we reaped daisies from this sceptred isle,

lying abed in its sun-basked green fields,

we looked at one another all the while,

wondering if our fate was to be sealed.

But my weeping heart knew we could never be,

because you did not belong to me.
