Twas the night before Christmas

The cookies and milk I got ready

To bed I hied, to await Santa's arrival

I pretended to be asleep, I even snored

I waited and waited, so very eagerly

After hearing not a peep

Down the stairs I quietly creeped

Not a single present was there

Under the Christmas tree to share

The clock chimed midnight

Not a Merry Christmas, or a ho, ho, ho

Could be heard, the night was mighty calm

A few teardrops cascaded down my unhappy cheeks

My brother came dashing down the stairs

"Guess what sis, look out the window". He yelled.

"Why, I don't want to". I was sad

He grabbed my hand, hauling me to the wintry sill

He pointed north, I think

There, up in yonder large patch of pines

Was Saint Nick, with Rudolph, Dasher, Prancer

And all the rest, all tangled and tied up among the limbs

"Oh my goodness, whatever shall we do"? I pondered

I grabbed the dinner bell, flew out the door

And with a mighty ringing and clanging

Woke up the entire neighborhood

Children tumbled from their beds,

Bleary-eyed and all confused

Our parents came to find out what the fuss was about

Oh my, call the fire brigade, fetch a ladder

Poor Santa was all embarrassed and red of face

So sorry, so sorry, he kept apologizing

Don't worry about it, Mr. Klaus

You will be ok in a jiffy

With a pullin and a pushin. A tuggin and a haulin

Santa Claus was finally free and raring to go

"I'm late. i'm late". He worried.

Rudolph niggled his chest, a charm in his mouth

"Ah yes, the magic charm of emergency".

"With this magical aid I can zip twice as fast

So all the children can still receive all their gifts"

"Thank you all, and merry Christmas".

With a cheery ho, ho, ho. He flew into the sky

I woke up early next morning, ran down the stairs

My brother had beaten me to it

There were wrappers flung everywhere

I knew it had all been a dream

IS SANTA CLAUS REAL YOU ASK ME?

That is for me to know and you to find out!

The presents are waiting. They won't open themselves!
