Samhain is in the Air
A playlist to celebrate All Hallow's Eve the Celtic way
Come gather round, my pretties, you’re in for a sight
There’s despair in the air on this hallowed fall night
The harvest is finished and winter is near
Let us gather to usher in the dark half of the year
Samhain Eve by Damh the Bard
Light your Samghnagans, your bonfires, in the Pagan tradition
And if you are want to believe superstition
We must shortly prepare for chaos to unfurl
As the wall disappears between home and the Otherworld
The Moon's a Harsh Mistress by Celtic Woman
Tonight is Samhain, but do not be grave
You will surely be safe if you choose to behave
There are ghosties and beasties that haunt us this night
Give them berth, for their mirth is your heart-stopping fright
The Night Descending by Iron & Wine
Dumb Supper will commense after we invite our kin
Who have left this cruel world full of sorrow and sin
We shall dine and sip wine and share information
Of the year that has passed since their last visitation
All Soul's Night by Loreena McKennitt
We will bid fond farewell to our ancestral spirits
As we set off on our yearly Samhain mumming visits
Dressed in our costumes, we’ll sing for the dead
And pray not for pranks, but for sweet cakes instead
A Celtic Lore by Adrian von Ziegler
Though the night air is quiet, we hope that our path
Will not yet be darkened by the Faery Host’s wrath
The Sluagh are restless and dangerous fae
Who feed on the souls of their wandering prey
Protection Chant by Lisa Thiel
But do not think Samhain is only for terror
As there are some aspects that you might find fairer
So come, let us drink, as the celebrations begin
For there is no other time of the year like Samhain
