We long for safety.
The feeling. A person. A place a thing.
Some of us keep our childhood blankets and hold them when we have anxiety or can’t sleep.
Emotional safety is a whole other experience.
I longed for safety and a place to be myself.
I craved understanding.
I needed someone to accept all the darkest parts of me, and love them anyway.
Looking in his decadent brown eyes, that feel like comfort as if they were my favorite season and they bring me warmth when I look into them…I saw everything I ever wanted.
There was no forcing, it flowed. Naturally.
He knew the words before they left my lips.
He knew how to speak to me.
He knew how to touch me.
He knew what I needed without me asking.
Safety is not just a feeling, place, or thing.
Safety can be a person.
A person where you are safe to be yourself because they are a little bit of you too.
Safety is in the way he holds me.
The excitement he has to see me.
Safety is him.
