it's been said, it only takes one ghost to haunt you
and a single moments pain to feel lost
forever is a path you have to go through
and a lifetime for two hearts to intercross
there is an emptiness inside that can't be mended
where a memory can linger in despair
your absence has caused time to be suspended
living isn't life without you there
I struggle to find joy in what we cherished
guilt and loneliness have masked it all in gray
like a tree that's fallen alone in the forest
the colors felled and swiftly washed away
some days it's all I can do to keep breathing
some days the clouds have swallowed up the sun
some days it seems I might be finished grieving
and other days it seems it's just begun
I wander to the well of sacred waters
where the under current sweeps away my tears
a place of peace that comforts weary travelers
and listen for your voice with heaven's ears
