day 2 (kind of) - 50 senryū / haikū in 50 days based on songs

day 2 (non-consecutively...as predicted) of attempting to write 50 senryū/haikū in 50 days. my aim is to get to the 50, even if i don't get one written daily (given my first one was around 3 days ago, and this is the second, it's safe to say "daily" is somewhat unrealistic...). today's choice is by ruby gill - south african born / australian based singer-songwriter. there are so many of her songs i could have chosen. i settled on this one because it's been living rent-free in my head for quite some time now, and it reflects - incredibly well - how i've been feeling about so many things. it was way harder to write than i thought it would be - it stirs up so much stuff. i cannot rule out writing at least one more based on this - or perhaps even a longer / non-senryū piece. so, please enjoy both the song, and my response senryū.

here are some of the other writers who have joined with Alyson Smith to share music that moves in seventeen syllables. please let me know who i've missed - i'm sure there are more.
