a lesson in love

The moods, the mystery, the romance, the misery.

Something soul-tied, something bold,

something addictive, some things untold.

A gift of love, a lesson in pain.

A degree in light, a masters in rain.

Again and again, I ran to you

to love and yearn and soak up the bright.

Then again and again, I ran from you

to heal myself and hide from the night.

I'd have loved you as fiercely as the flames on the sun

if I could have held you and called you my own.

But deep in my heart, I've come to know,

that you can't set fire to a rolling stone.
