rock collection pt.2
I won't wait any longer
two weeks may have passed
since our short-lived love
burnt out too fast
and yet you're taken
into every consideration
life is still lived as though
you're a part of mine
...
finally, just now
I moved the collection of rocks―
ones that had been awaiting your
careful revision and nod of approval
your intrigued inspection beneath
bed-side lamp
I kept them out for a week
hoping the day would soon come
when upon first entering into
the room of the girl whose
heart you occupy
your first motive is to
only carefully study
earth fragments that rest upon glass
but that day hasn't come
and finally, tonight, I've realized
they take up too much space
so I moved them to the sill―
still to be on display,
but not in such an
overtly pestering way
their beauty can be admired from afar
because I can no longer anticipate the day
when it's your body
finding its way
into my car
