River Rapids

A Rondeau

By Holly NacePublished about a month ago 1 min read

Like river rapids, tears will flow

As he absorbs another blow

The pain sets in and suddenly

A river red creates a sea

Beside his head as he lets go

-

The many wounds from long ago

That have since gained a golden glow

Reopened with severity

Like river rapids

-

Though weak he stands, his movements slow

His shadow on the earth below

With body broken hopelessly

His spirit shines with victory

The worthy scars in triumph show

Like river rapids
