Story Rhyme Along
There was a guy that lived south of town.
He had red curly hair and was known as the town clown.
He had an amazing gift of telling stories of his adventures.
One day…
He told a lie
About a pig with a stye
In his eye
His name was Clarence.
He’d received a great inheritance.
The one who did everything wrong,
Twist and turn to a silent song…
Spoke words of wisdom only few can hear,
Backwards speaking made everything clear 🤡
Clarence once had a roving eye
His wife hit him with a cherry pie
He was so enamored with her baking
All others he was forsaking
So she baked him cherry pie every day
Until she got tired and just ran away
Clarence got back that roving eye
And never had another cherry pie 🥧
Clarence liked to salsa on a Saturday night.
It started out to be lots of fun but always ended in a fight.
He’d search the room over for the gal who was just right.
There was always at least one who didn’t tell him to go fly a kite.
He tried walking backwards.
He wanted to reunite, so he watched his words.
Then out popped the word turds.
He was trying for sturdy.
And how he is loyal, and faithful and she could tell he was really nerdy.
But nerdy is so cute and cuddly,
His antics and a little fuddly…
How could you not give him a peck?
If you love him well what the heck!?!
You never know what could happen…
Could be so amazing they leave the audience clappin 😂 💋
Oh, that Clarence! What a guy
He wore a suit, but never a tie
He thought that he was in style
His orange plaid suit made people smile
The green shirt, blue shoes, purple hat
Made him look like a silly dingbat!
A silly dingbat is what I say
But then who am I to say that anyway,
with my green plaid dress, with a purple sash aay
I will say that, and more if I may
And what about those orange shoes, and pink hat
Now who is the silly dingbat?
Author's Note: My writing group rhymes every 8th of the month. Four of us contributed to the rhyme above. It was Carol's idea and turned out to be fun! A couple other writers posted rhymes as well. We do this every month until February when we do a poem a day (or more).
